Vertex Effects Steel String Clean Drive MkII Pedal

LEGENDARY SSS TONE FROM AN EVEN SLIMMER STOMP

Players like SRV, Eric Johnson, and John Mayer have been singing the praises of a rare 100-watt 6L6 Dumble Amp, the Steel String Singer, that achieved legendary status in the mid-1980s. And whether you're looking for a taste of Texas sweet tea or a return to Gravity, the Vertex Steel String Clean Drive MkII — now 33% slimmer and with an added trick up its sleeve — faithfully captures that "SSS" magic using an actual Dumble Steel String Singer #001

he Steel String MkII is dead-simple in its operation yet matchless in its rootsy mojo. With gain settings below 1:00, the Steel String Clean Drive MkII makes an incredibly versatile clean boost, with a Filter control to dial in how much of that D-style midrange shaping your instrument demands. Above 1:00, the Steel String Clean Drive MkII begins to sweeten your signal with vine-ripened drive characteristics matured in the California sun. Wide open, this pedal virtually breathes fire, with enough juicy gain to take you from Flavor Town well into Brown County. Optional 18-volt operation (adapter not included) nets you buckets of increased headroom — perfect for studio tracking or pairing this pedal with a vintage amp. All the while, true bypass operation preserves your dry signal whenever you don't have the Steel String MkII engaged, which, if you're anything like Sweetwater's testers, is pretty much a nonissue, since you'll never want to turn this thing off. The Vertex Steel String MkII is assembled in California and comes in a rugged brushed metal housing with an authentic D-style Level knob.

WHAT's NEW IN THE MK II?

• Slimmer, lighter profile — Analog enthusiasts rejoice! The Vertex Steel String MkII manages to pack all the vibey analog tone of the original into a slimmer, sleeker stomp — a reduction in size of roughly 33%. That means you can fit even more D-style goodness onto your overloaded pedalboard systems.
• Voicing toggle — One added feature the MkII brings to the table is the Jazz/Rock toggle. This helps thicken up cleans and tighten up overdrive tones to supply an even wider range of SSS voicings.

Features:

• Dumble SSS tone from a single-wide stomp
• Inspiring touch sensitivity, warmth, and sparkle
• Based on model #001 of an original run of legendary 6L6 Dumble SSS
• 33% slimmer and lighter than the original!
• New Jazz/Rock toggle thickens up cleans and tightens up drive tones
• Versatile Gain and Level controls make this a capable clean boost or full-on overdrive
• Filter control dials in doses of that D-style mids shaping
• Rugged brushed metal housing
• Authentic D-style Level knob
• Optional 9 to 18-volt operation (adapter not included), 18V provides extra headroom
• True bypass switching
• Designed & Assembled in California

The Perfect Digital Watch with all the Bells & Whistles!
Color: Black/Gray
I always buy this kind of watch, and so does my adult daughter. It has a timer, 3 alarm settings, push button light, easy to set, and other features that I don't use, like, track timers, Occasion settings, Beeps & Chimes, On or Off. I use it for timing my Laundry, taking pills, timing things in the kitchen. I just can't live without it! My daughter used it for timing on her Breast Feeding Schedule, so no matter what room she was in, or what she was doing, she would always hear that alarm!

Reliable and Affordable Timekeeping for an Active Lifestyle
Color: Black/Gray
I recently purchased the Timex Unisex Ironman Classic 30 34mm Watch, and it has exceeded my expectations in terms of functionality, durability, and style. First and foremost, the watch's design is sleek and unisex, making it suitable for a variety of wrist sizes and both casual and sporty occasions. The 34mm face strikes a perfect balance, providing clear visibility of the time without feeling bulky on the wrist. One of the standout features of this timepiece is its reliability. The Ironman Classic 30 lives up to its name with a water resistance of up to 100 meters, making it suitable for swimming and other water-based activities. The durable resin strap and casing can withstand the wear and tear of an active lifestyle, ensuring longevity. The watch's functionality is where it truly shines. The digital display is easy to read, and the Indiglo backlight is a game-changer in low-light conditions. The 30-lap memory is a handy feature for tracking workouts or laps in the pool, while the countdown timer and alarm add practicality for daily use. Setting and adjusting the time and date are straightforward, thanks to the user-friendly interface. The watch also offers a dual time zone feature, making it a great companion for travelers. Battery life is impressive, providing long-lasting performance without the need for frequent replacements. This is a crucial aspect for those who rely on their timepiece during outdoor adventures or extended periods away from a power source. In terms of value for money, the Timex Ironman Classic 30 delivers outstanding features at an affordable price point. Whether you're an athlete, fitness enthusiast, or someone who simply appreciates a reliable timepiece, this watch is a solid investment. In conclusion, the Timex Unisex Ironman Classic 30 34mm Watch combines style, durability, and functionality seamlessly. It has become my go-to watch for both daily wear and active pursuits. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a reliable and affordable timekeeping companion.

The Best for Athletics
Color: Black/Gray
This is a sleek, light wristwatch that will not weigh you down with its bulk. Forget the gigantic profile of a "survivalist" wristwatch. This unisex model is svelte and slim, not adding much to the wake you generate while swimming, or the swing of your arms while running, or the wind as it passes around your wrists and hands while you are speeding by on your racing bike. This is only 34mm across, by 35mm tall, by 11.5mm thick. The wristband is 13mm at its median working width. Timex styling cannot be beat, and neither is the resin-rubber-like material. I don't know about you, but the price is something I take a good look at. I want a watch that is reasonably priced and high-quality. I don't want to spend $200 to $1000 on a watch and worrying about being careful with it. If it gets smashed, it's only $30 to $50, not a big loss, and the quality is way better than what they were making in the 1980's. These watches are made for athletics and the real world.

Great watch, flimsy band
Color: Gray/Lilac
I bought this watch to replace a similar model because the band broke. I see this is a recurrent problem in many other reviews. However, I liked the watch enough to buy it again anyway. I found the new model easy to set, being fairly intuitive. So far it keeps perfect time. I use this watch mainly as a travel watch, and loved the dual time zone function. I am pleased that the newer model now has the ability to set 3 times zones instead of 2, which is an added bonus. The only con I see at this point is the flimsy strap. Unfortunately, the strap on this model is even thinner than on the previous one, and I wonder how long it will last. Also I wonder about the battery length. I think these watches may have been sitting around a long time. The setting showed 2012. I am afraid much of the battery life of the original battery may have already been used up and the battery may need replacing early. Only time will tell. The watch fits my small wrist fine and it is a little more attractive than the old model. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the band problem.
